THE 2025 CONVENTION PLANNING TEAM
Doug Reynold’s journey in the NA began when he went to his first BWMT meeting in Kansas City, Missouri in 1985. There, he served his local chapter in many capacities including Co-Chair. From KC, he expanded his work to the regional level where he served as Co-Chair of the Midland Region in the late 90’s early 2000’s.
Over the past three decades,Doug has also served at the national level on the NA Board of Directors on three separate occasions starting in the mid 90’s to his current term which ends in 2024.
Doug has also served as Interim Co-Chair of the NA for one year to complete the term of the beloved Co-Chair, Scott Duty, who suddenly passed away in October of 2021. Doug is currently serving as Co-Chair of the Convention Planning Committee (CPC) for the 2025 National Convention in Kansas City, Missouri,
He also served on the 2003
CPC with Bob Williams and Rudy Rudolph when the convention was in KCMO 22 years ago. Doug has served on numerous other CPCs over the years between 2003 and 2025 and considers it a pleasure to serve the National Association.
Since 1984, Dr. Preston Shumaker was “reared” and nurtured in the National Association of
Black and White Men Together (NABWMT). Over several decades, he has served on the local,
regional, and national board of directors in various leadership roles and awarded a NABWMT
Lifetime Award in 2015. Committed to male leadership development, he founded two African
American HIV discussion groups which incorporated behavioral change and risk reduction
strategies. His prose has been featured in Windy City Times, BLACKlines, IDENTITY,
PULSE, and VENUS Magazines. Most recently, Dr. Shumaker authored an article in
Immigration Health Services Corps (IHSC) magazine, The Communicator, on strengthening
transgender behavioral health and resiliency. In 2012, he founded the B. Chambers Scholarship
Fund which has raised nearly $40,000 for LGBTQ students. Dr. Shumaker completed a Master
of Social Work Degree at Chicago State University and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology
at the Illinois School of Professional Psychology – Chicago Campus. Currently, he serves as a
Commissioned Officer in the United States Public Health Service.

Both of them, have presented workshops on politics. With the motto “Don’t Agonize, Organize” they have canvassed, rallied, blogged and, recently, joined the nationwide effort to protect our democracy.
They are long time members of the Unitarian Universalist Church, renowned for it’s Social Justice work.
Mack hails from San Diego and Ken from England and both have a keen interest in politics, travel and soccer.
They are retired, Mack from teaching elementary grades in the Los Angeles School District and Ken from scientific research and teaching environmental science.
From Rudy Rudolph:
My affiliation with BWMT and NABWMT began after moving to Atlanta, GA in 1990. As a member of the Atlanta Chapter, I served as the newsletter editor for several years earning the Chapter a National Newsletter Award. Subsequently, I served on the Chapter Board as Treasurer until moving to Jacksonville, FL in late 2004. During this time, I also served on the National Board as a Director for a term and served on the 1994, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2011 Convention Planning Committees. I’m excited to be a part of the 2025 CPC as Treasurer.
